As it stands, Roma are the only team in Serie A to have the same number of black players on their squad as they did at the start of the campaign.
Only AC Milan, Napoli and Fiorentina have fewer black players.
The club have also brought in a new training ground in the city of Genoa, the first of its kind in the league.
But the club is facing a big challenge to overcome the long-term effects of the black players’ association with the league’s governing body.
“We had a meeting with the clubs, and agreed that we will have a black player on the squad, if he is not a professional,” said general manager Adriano Galliani.
“If he’s an amateur, he is still an amateur.
For the first time in recent history, Roma will have four black players in the squad on Saturday. “
This is a big task and we will continue to do our best to make sure that the players feel like they belong on the pitch.”
For the first time in recent history, Roma will have four black players in the squad on Saturday.
The only other team to have four is Inter, who have the most black players of any team in the competition.
Only Fiorensi and Napoli have more black players than Roma.
“Inter is the only one that has three black players,” said Galliani, who added that he hoped Roma could reach a deal with the player’s club.
“It’s a shame that Roma doesn’t have a professional who is qualified to play in Italy, but I think this is the right moment for the club to move forward.”
For a start, Roma have already signed two players: Gonzalo Higuain from Atalanta and Andrea Pirlo from Fiorendina.
In addition, the Italian team will wear a different number of players for their matches, and Galliani confirmed that the team will have three black substitutes.
“The idea is to be the best in the world,” he said.
“But also we need to be able to play our opponents in the most competitive conditions, in the best conditions.
That’s why we have a training ground.
We have a lot of things to do to get better and faster, and that’s why the players will come together on Saturday to try to make this the best training ground we can.”
Galliani did not reveal any other new signings, other than the signing of new defender Fabio Borini from AC Milan.
Borini, 23, will join Roma for around €20 million, but the Italian international is already set to become a free agent.
“I’m delighted with the move, I have a great relationship with the coach and the staff,” Borini told the club’s official website.
“Andrea is a young player, and he can learn so much from the coach, I believe he’ll be a really good player for us.
He will learn from my style of play, which is very similar to that of the best players in Europe.
I hope he’ll improve with every game, and I hope we can build a team together.”
Borini’s arrival will add to the already significant number of new players Roma have signed.
As well as Higuillain and Pirli, the club has signed a number of young Italian players, including Gianluca Di Marzio, Domenico Berardi and Francesco Totti.
